Domaine: Jean et Jean-Louis Trapet
Varieties, vine age: Pinot noir, about 30 years old
Soil, vine location: several plots near Brochon and in the village of Gevrey
Wine-making: hand-harvested, about 1/3 whole grapes, short cold pre-fermentation
Wine-storing: 15 months in casks (1/3 new), very little racking, neither fined nor filtered, bottled by means of gravity
Colour, bouquet: nice ruby colour, discrete bouquet
Taste: red berries and cherry, slightly oaky at finish
Conclusion: very pleasant, not a monster but elegant and harmonious
Peak, ageing: already pleasant, but still young (peak in at least 3 years time)
Accompaning dish: beef bourguignon, good association (a Nuits-Saint-Georges would probably have been better)
